The PMI is a worldwide organization of project management professionals. PMI is the publishers of the standard PMBOK Guide, "A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge." Currently in its 3rd edition (from 2000), it is the only ANSI standard for project management. PMI manages two levels of certification related to the PMBOK Guide: A Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) - roughly you deserve this after working for only 1 year IN a project, being "in contact" for 23 with formal education in project management. Then there's the real Project Management Professional (PMPĀ®) that has met specific education and experience requirements, has agreed to adhere to a code of professional conduct, and has passed an examination designed to objectively assess and measure project management knowledge. In addition, a PMP must satisfy continuing certification requirements or lose the certification. you can read more on WikipediaMore info on pmi
